Include every detail you can imagine: birthplace, parents, astrological sign, first car, how he/she handles conflict, joys, losses, personality quirks, food likes and dislikes, occupation, and more. You may never refer to any of the above details but just knowing them will help you to write about your character in a more intimate way.
